John Longstreth is widely regarded as one of the most technically proficient and innovative drummers in the modern death metal scene. A Kansas City native now based in New York City, John is best known for his blistering speed, control, and endurance behind the drum kit, earning him recognition as a leading force in extreme drumming and a major influence within the global metal community.

John’s drumming journey began in childhood, inspired by a jazz musician father and shaped by the sounds of Buddy Rich, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Cab Calloway, Frank Zappa, and Pat Metheny. After formal instruction with Kansas City musician Ray Demarchi, John found his identity through early thrash and death metal, citing Slayer as a pivotal influence. His unique style was first showcased in his early band Malicious Intent, and quickly drew attention during his time with Angelcorpse, contributing to the landmark albums Hammer of the Gods and Exterminate.

Since 1999, John has been the driving force behind technical death metal giants Origin, performing on albums such as Informis Infinitas Inhumanitas, Antithesis, Entity, and Unparalleled Universe. His unmatched stamina and complex rhythmic language have helped define the band's relentless sonic assault. Beyond Origin, John has contributed to an extensive range of studio and touring projects including Gorguts, Dying Fetus, Skinless, Dim Mak, Crator, Unmerciful, Exhumed, and The Red Chord, showcasing his adaptability and elite skill in high-demand situations.

A sought-after studio session drummer and touring musician, John has played stages worldwide, touring with legends such as Morbid Angel, Nile, Arch Enemy, and Hate Eternal.
