Meet Your Instructor

Shareef Islam is a veteran producer, engineer, and educator from Brooklyn, New York. His journey began as a dancer and choreographer during hip-hop’s golden era, performing alongside artists such as Paula Abdul, Jody Watley, Heavy D, and Kid ’n Play.

After transitioning into production and engineering, Shareef worked with some of the most influential names in hip-hop and R&B; including Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, Q-Tip, De La Soul, Big Daddy Kane, AZ, Mos Def, and Onyx. His remix credits span major acts such as D’Angelo, TLC, Brandy, Missy Elliott, and Raphael Saadiq.

Beyond his studio work, Shareef is a respected educator and instructor in New York City. As the co-creator and host of Reclaiming the Mix with Maschine and The Beat Bang Theory, he brings a dynamic teaching style that blends real-world production experience with deep technical insight.
