Music Production in Ableton Live – Summer Bootcamp (Youth)

Make real music this summer. The Sound Collective Youth Production Bootcamp is a hands-on program for grades 8 through 12 where you build beats, write tracks, design sounds, and mix finished music in Ableton Live.

No experience needed. No theory required. Show up with ideas, leave with a track. Week 1 is a complete standalone program. Week 2 takes it further.

What Students Will Learn

• Confident navigation of Ableton Live’s Session and Arrangement Views
• Audio warping, editing, and creative manipulation
• MIDI and drum programming with software instruments and drum racks
• Fundamentals of synthesis, sampling, and sound design
• Track arrangement, automation, and transitions
• Mixing essentials including EQ, compression, and FX
• Workflow techniques using racks, routing, and templates
• Best practices for exporting, organizing, and sharing finished music

Week 1 – Start Making Music

• Ableton Live from the ground up, start building on day one
• Program your own beats, melodies, and chord progressions
• Design sounds using synthesizers
• Build a full arrangement from your loop
• Mix your track and play it for the group

Week 2 – Finish a Real Track

• Record live instruments and vocals
• Build your own tools and templates
• Go deeper into sound design and mixing
• Export and share your finished music
• Final track showcase on the last day
