Biography
Arian Shafiee is a San Francisco–born guitarist and composer who has been based in New York City since 2015. As a founding member of the art rock band Guerilla Toss, he has toured throughout the US and Europe and released music on Sub Pop, DFA, and Tzadik. His solo catalog stretches from minimal instrumental guitar work to detailed electronic compositions, reflecting a curiosity that moves freely across genres. His music has earned praise from NPR, Pitchfork, and Rolling Stone, and has been featured in series on HBO and Apple TV.
At Sound Collective, Arian brings a broad creative toolkit shaped by years of touring, recording, and producing across different musical worlds. He focuses on helping students build their own artistic identity by strengthening technique, expanding their sonic vocabulary, and developing a workflow that supports experimentation.
