Biography
Hector Romero is a Bronx-born DJ and dance-music industry veteran known for high-energy, story-driven sets that blend Latin rhythms, house, and hip-hop with effortless musicality. His career spans NYC’s most influential club rooms and underground scenes, plus dance floors across the U.S., Canada, and Europe. He is widely respected for reading a room and building a set arc that moves people.
Beyond the booth, Hector brings deep experience on the business side of music through Def Mix Productions, including label management and A&R work alongside leaders like Judy Weinstein and David Morales. He has also been involved with imprint work connected to Satoshi Tomiie, bringing a clear perspective on artist development, releases, and long-term career strategy.
As a Guest Instructor at Sound Collective, Hector teaches DJ and music-production students how to develop real club-ready skills: track selection and programming, transitions that feel musical (not mechanical), tasteful use of EQ and FX, and genre-blending with intention, plus the professional habits that separate hobbyists from working DJs.
