Sound Collective NYC

Professional Hardware From Day One.

Most DJs don’t get hands-on CDJ time until they’re already booked. We flip that, every section of this program is built around real Pioneer hardware in a real booth environment.

Software to Stage.

Performing on CDJs starts before you touch the hardware. You’ll learn Rekordbox prep, cue management, and library organization alongside mixing technique so your whole workflow is tight.

Graduate Ready to Work.

You’ll graduate with recorded mixes, filmed sets, artist branding, and performance materials, everything a working DJ needs to start getting booked.

Program Structure

Our programs are broken down into Intro, Intermediate and Proficient Sections.

Section 1 (Intro)

Section 1 covers CDJ and Rekordbox fundamentals, music theory for DJs, and set curation, finishing with a recorded mix on Pioneer hardware.

Section 2 (Intermediate)

Section 2 advances your technique, adds scratching, DAW basics, and live recording, finishing with a polished video set recorded on Pioneer hardware.

Section 3 (Proficient)

Section 3 ends with a full portfolio: advanced Pioneer hardware performance, genre specialization, original mashups and edits, and a complete artist identity ready for real stages.

Section Breakdown

Section 1: Intro

Intro to CDJs & Rekordbox

The Intro to CDJs & Rekordbox course is a hands-on introduction to the world of DJing using industry-standard Pioneer CDJs and Rekordbox.

The DJ Set Curation course is a deep dive into the art of curating and performing meaningful DJ sets.

FINAL PROJECT: Recorded Opener Mix

Record and submit your first 30-minute set on the CDJ-3000s — a curated opener mix with key-matched transitions and a written setlist breakdown that marks the beginning of your DJ portfolio on industry-standard gear.

Intermediate CDJs & Rekordbox

The Intermediate CDJs & Rekordbox course builds on foundational DJ skills with a deeper focus on performance strategy, advanced phrasing, and live remixing techniques.

Audio & Video Recording for DJs

The Audio & Video Recording for DJs course teaches practical methods for DJs to record professional-quality audio and video of their sets.

Music Business Essentials

This course provides a practical introduction to the modern music business for independent artists.

Producing Mashups & Edits

Producing Mashups & Edits is a practical, DAW-agnostic course that turns raw tracks into performance-ready mashups and edits. You will build a repeatable workflow: organize, warp, align, harmonically match, extract and clean vocals, design transitions, control energy with FX and automation, and deliver versions tailored for DJ use.

Artist Branding & Social Media

Students learn to define their unique identity, develop compelling messaging, manage a multi-platform social media presence, design and maintain an Electronic Press Kit (EPK), and create a long-term strategy for career growth.

Advanced DJ Hardware

This Advanced DJ Hardware course expands the creative performance toolkit for house and electronic DJs by introducing hardware effects, live sampling, and hybrid performance techniques beyond standard decks and mixers.

Advanced DJing: House

Advanced DJing: House is a focused exploration of DJing house music at a professional level. Students learn how to prep and structure house sets with purpose, use loops and FX with intention, and deliver transitions that are musically appropriate and emotionally compelling.

Advanced DJing: Open Format

This Advanced DJing: Open Format course is designed for DJs who have already mastered foundational and intermediate skills and are ready to refine their craft as versatile, open format performers.

FINAL PROJECT: Headliner Set + EPK

Graduate with a headliner-level CDJ set and a polished EPK — live mashups, hardware integration, and advanced technique filmed and packaged with the branding materials that turn a strong portfolio into real career momentum.
