DJ Set Curation

The DJ Set Curation course is a deep dive into the art of curating and performing meaningful DJ sets. Students study the history and culture of DJing, explore music sourcing strategies, and learn to adapt sets for different contexts, time slots, and venues. The course emphasizes both the philosophy and practice of set building, from telling a story with track selection to handling unexpected challenges in real-world performance.

• History and Culture of DJing
  Explore the origins of DJ culture, major movements, and the evolution of DJ artistry.
• Foundations of Curation
  Learn flow, energy arcs, and how to balance crowd familiarity with originality.
• Music Sourcing and Library Management
  Build a professional music library through crate digging, record pools, and online platforms.
• Quality and Context
  Understand file types, metadata, and adapting sets to different environments.
• Set Flow and Time Slot Strategy
  Structure opening, peak-time, and closing sets with energy mapping.
• On-the-Fly Adjustments
  Develop adaptability through live crowd reading, resets, and troubleshooting.
• Signature Sound Development
  Define a personal DJ identity and craft memorable moments within a set.
• Final Presentation
  Perform a 15-minute curated set designed for a specific time slot and venue.
